“This is an unprecedented and an unsettling time and that creates a lot of angst not just among adults but among our kids as well,” he said.Īdministratively the district is operating with a skeleton crew and the buildings are not open to the public. Still, the superintendent pointed out their students are likely experiencing stress over the situation. He said people have volunteered to deliver meals if people cannot go to the school to get them. Kilrea said members of the community have volunteered to drive meals to students’ homes. If students need the meals delivered, they can request delivery.
They’re grab and go, and Kilrea said he doesn’t yet know how many students will take the meals. Meals, too, are available for students who need them at both campuses. The students will check in once a day, he said. He said school officials had originally considered having students take attendance but that was found to be unworkable. Scott Eggering, director of curriculum and instruction, said the staff has gone above and beyond to make the effort work. In the meantime, some teachers are preparing paper lesson packets that will take them through April 6.
